Even though it seems as if we just put our garden tools away, this is the time to start making plans for next spring’s roof top gardening project!

Never feel restricted just because you don’t have a yard to plant vegetables. Container gardening is easy and fun. Several restaurants (including the Accomac) have container gardening projects along with full -blown gardens on acreage.  If you have a flat roof, you can do it. If you have a deck, you can do it. If all else fails, knock out a wall and put a nice deep window where you can grow your veggies and herbs inside. April will be here before you know it, so make your plans now during these cold, winter days.

Here is a great article with tips for getting started with your vegetable container garden. There are plenty of other resources online to help you along the way. It is certainly a worthwhile project.

Here’s to eating fresh in 2011!
