2010 Accomac Garden Wrap-Up

1 Nov 2010 by TheAccomac, View Comments

The numbers are in, ladies and gentlemen! Last week, we brought in the last of our garden produce. We collected carrots, peppers, and of course, more tomatoes. Chef Andre will be creating a salsa with the green ones that we thought we would need to leave behind, which is great!

The last of the tomatoes weighed over 100 pounds bringing us a grand total for the year of 1,534.1 pounds!!! We couldn’t be more thrilled that the first year of our garden yielded this amount. We did not anticipate this number. If you remember, back in July’s post we estimated 400 pounds.

The field will be tilled and spread with manure  and put to rest until spring. We’re already planning for next year! We’ll keep you posted on new items that we’ll be growing. Thanks to everyone that has followed our journey with this project this year.

Thanks very much for that! My father recently harvested her garden full of tomatoes before the winter really set in, and I found myself the owner of two or four buckets worth! Of course I couldnt eat them all, but I did find a website full of loads more tomato recipes at that site. A website dedicated the topic!! Crazy what you can find on the internet these days!!
